Capture

Title: Capture
Series: Seaside Pictures #1
Author: Rachel Van Dyken
Publication Date: August 20th 2015
Genre: New Adult, Contemporary, Romance
Rating: 4.5 Stars
Losing your ability to speak at the age of seventeen; it’s not normal or fair.
But trauma, has a way of throwing normality out the window.

Dani lives anything but a normal life.
Her sister is married to one of the biggest names in Hollywood.
Her best friends are rockstar duo AD2.
And she has more love around her than most people experience in a lifetime.
But that doesn't change the fact their parents are dead.
Or that it's her fault.

It seems her new normal is being a mute, living on the inside, unable to actually communicate on the outside.
That is until Hollywood’s newest heartthrob Lincoln Greene hires her as his assistant for the summer.
He's gorgeous, completely unavailable, and unobtainable.
But that doesn't stop her from wondering...if things were different...would he want her?
If she was whole, would he be the other half?

My Review

Capture is an adorable, romantic and humorous story, and I loved every single moment reading it! I fell in love with Ms. Dyken every since I read The Matchmaker's Playbook, the first in her Wingmen Inc. series, and so when I stumbled across this, it was an instant click in my head. And damn, it was a stunner. But before I start this review, I should mention that I started this book not having read her other series (namely her Seaside and Ruin series) because they do overlap. After reading it, I do recommend reading them first, but there was nothing confusing about the characters overlapping at all.

Anyway, back to the review :)

Capture tells the story of Dani, who is a selective mute due to a trauma that has wrecked her life, and is now trying to live her life though she's not really living. I loved Dani, especially her sense of humour. She is a strong character, and despite what she has been through, she always finds a way to stay bright with her humorous and sarcastic text messages. Her character development wasn't a big factor here, but that's okay, because I really enjoyed reading about her nevertheless.

"Dani: Am I going to have to start looking up jokes in order to entertain you at night? Also, you have to be up in four hours — correction WE have to be up in four hours. GO TO SLEEP!

Linc: Did you just all caps me?

Dani: My finger slipped?

Linc: Finger slipped my ass. I think you just yelled at your elder."

And Lincoln...*sigh* Lincoln, Lincoln, Lincoln. What am I going to do with you?

I fell in love with Lincoln at his first paragraph. No, seriously. With this book written in alternating POVs, we get to see Dani and Lincoln's thoughts, and when I read Lincoln's first paragraph, I was already smiling like a lunatic. Plus, he's hot, has a tattoo named Bo and has an obsession with pigs but is terrified of whales. Yep, hotness everywhere. You sure can't find this Lincoln anywhere else.

Characters aside, I really did enjoy this book. The story line was set, the writing was amazing, and of course, the humour is always present. Ms. Rachel Van Dyken did an awesome job at creating this world, the setting and the characters. Plus, I seriously cannot wait to read Zane's story!

This book was ultimately awesome and so so sweet. A great book to read and enjoy if you're in for a light romantic read.
