My Review
This book was just...everything.
It was absolutely perfect in every sense and I have to say, this was probably my favourite out of all of the previous three. Every single one of these books has wrenched and played with my heart, but Seeds of Iniquity was that final heartbreaker.
Don't get me wrong, there wasn't anything in here that made me sob and ache in heartbreak. It was more like Redmerski's writing that almost bought me to the edge just thinking about this book. Her writing was perfectly beautiful, so exquisitely developed, in her story line and characters. To be honest, if I could describe this book in two words, it would be: messed-up. The whole book was completely messed-up in the sense that it was just so psychologically draining.
In Seeds of Iniquity, we get to meet Nora, a stunning and deadly blonde who has everyone on her lack of a fingertip (if you've read this book, you'll know what I mean). To be honest, most villains are made to be hated, but in this book, I couldn't help but hate to love her. While reading, I felt so intimidated by her, but I also couldn't help but feel proud of her. She has this personality that I love. Strong, independent, and very very deadly. She knows how to fight, and the first time we get to meet her, I was just reading that chapter with my mouth open. She is. Awesome. Not only that, but she is also very sexy. And combine that with a very messed-up talent of manipulation, she makes the best kind of assassin. I hated her a lot of the time, for what she made everyone go through, but I couldn't help but love her either. To be honest, I'm quite happy with her resolution.
The comparison made between Nora and Izabel in this book was enough to make my heart crack. It hurt to see what Nora made Izabel go through, and if I wasn't on the bus at 6AM while reading that scene, I would've been tearing up (but I didn't for the fear of ruining my makeup XD sad, I know). Izabel has actually taken a step further in this book, and despite all of the doubts her and Victor threw at each other, I still love their relationship. It was just so much more than I asked for, and I love every single second of it.
The pure story line of this book was enough to mess with my head. Through the interrogation of Nora to her interrogating everyone, the flip of roles just messes with my head so much I didn't know which way was up anymore. This book was much more psychological than the rest, and I love it. Sick, dark, gritty and messed up psychological thrillers are always on my dinner plate, and I'm so glad to see it in this book because it just bumped up that goodreads 5 stars to the equivalent of the number of stars in the Milky Way. This book explored so much more than just pure killing and assassinations. It went through the impact of emotion baiting, the pure fact of accepting, and the shame of remembering your past.
"Oh, it’s not a threat,” I cut in. I point my finger at her. “You don’t fuck with somebody’s loved ones; innocent people who never asked to be related to, or involved with someone not-so-innocent like the rest of us. Only cowards shoot somebody from behind. If you wanted something from one of us, then you should’ve called that person out from the start and dealt with it head-on.”
It was excruciatingly beautiful.
Seeds of Iniquity, I have to say, I love most so far in the series, but the gradual build-up of the story into this book was perfect. If you have not started reading this series, you need to. Because you will not regret it. Ever.
