I don't do dangerous.
Smart, über-careful, ordinary Samantha-that's me. But I just couldn't pass up a surprise kiss from my number-one unattainable crush. A kiss that did something to me...something strange. Now I feel hungry all the time, but not for food. It's like part of me is missing-and I don't know if I can get it back.
Then there's Bishop. At first I thought he was just a street kid, but the secrets he's keeping are as intense as his unearthly blue eyes. If he's what I think he is, he may be the only one who can help me. But something terrifying is closing in, and the one chance Bishop and I have to stop it means losing everything I ever wanted and embracing the darkness inside me....
NIGHTWATCHERS
When angels and demons must work together, something beyond evil is rising...

My Review

This book was enjoyable to the extent that it was a fun and quick read, however, I feel like in terms of plot building and character development, it was lacking quite a bit.

First of all, I just want to talk about the cover though. Hot-damn it's beautiful! The angel/guy/devil/dude/person on the cover is hot as hell, and the wings are beautiful! Anyway, I think that cover needs a rating by itself and I'm gonna give it a 5 :D

Back to the story. I enjoyed it enough to finish it all the way through, but I there was nothing in particular that drew me in nor connected with me. The main character, Samantha, is a nice and normal girl at the start, which I don't mind, but as the story went on, I kind of expected more of her to develop or change in some way due to the information that she finds out about herself through the story, but she didn't, and I guess that kind of disappointed me. The same goes with Bishop. There's a lot of strings left untied at the end of the book, and even though there is still a sequel, I felt like it would've been much better to hint at the unanswered questions in this book. I wanted to know more about the Heaven and Hell, Angels and Demons, world because there was no set reason why that Heaven elder sent Bishop down to Earth that way, or maybe just hint at it or something.

The other characters that were sent down with Bishop needed a lot more character development, because damn, I actually felt more drawn towards Kraven than Samantha and Bishop combined. Kraven was really the only character who I really liked the mystery of, and wanted to know more about. I also wanted to know more about Roth, Zach and Connor, even though they were side characters, they were still pretty important and needed much more limelight.

The plot of the story was pretty slow as well. Nothing really jumped out at me as I read on, and sometimes, I even felt a bit bored. I think that whenever you write a book based in the Heaven, Earth and Hell world, you need to dig in deep and create a really twisted storyline where the reader will get surprised in some way. And I felt like the world of this story was almost too plain.

Overall, this book was pretty enjoyable, but it lacks the story depth that it needs to convince me to carry on with the sequel. I might pick it up one day, but right now I'm going to give it a pass.
