REVIEW: Reboot by Amy Tintera

Reboot by Amy Tintera

Title: Reboot
Series: Reboot #2
Author: Amy Tintera
Publication Date: May 7th 2013
Publisher: Harper Teen

Five years ago, Wren Connolly was shot three times in the chest. After 178 minutes she came back as a Reboot: stronger, faster, able to heal, and less emotional. The longer Reboots are dead, the less human they are when they return. Wren 178 is the deadliest Reboot in the Republic of Texas. Now seventeen years old, she serves as a soldier for HARC (Human Advancement and Repopulation Corporation).
Wren’s favorite part of the job is training new Reboots, but her latest newbie is the worst she’s ever seen. As a 22, Callum Reyes is practically human. His reflexes are too slow, he’s always asking questions, and his ever-present smile is freaking her out. Yet there’s something about him she can’t ignore. When Callum refuses to follow an order, Wren is given one last chance to get him in line—or she’ll have to eliminate him. Wren has never disobeyed before and knows if she does, she’ll be eliminated, too. But she has also never felt as alive as she does around Callum.
The perfect soldier is done taking orders.

My Review

When I first saw the blurb of this book, I KNEW I had to buy this book straight away. Maybe it was because I love dystopian, especially with some sort of robots in them. The blurb, the cover just drew me in and I had, just had to get my hand on a print copy of this book.

And of course, I did NOT regret buying this book at all. It was a fast-pace action-mixed with romance kind of story. Oh man, how I love this book so much. Amy did an amazing job at writing this book! There were so much emotions going through my head while reading this, and I just could not stop.

So the story starts with Wren (a.k.a One-Seventy-Eight), she is the perfect soldier. She is a bad-ass fighter, and she doesn't have feelings to get in her way while she kills. I love her right from the beginning, mainly because she was bad-ass (I love bad-ass main characters), but while she wasn't foul-mouthed, she was mysterious and I wanted to learn more about her. She has this rule of 'No-Screaming' and to me, it's just hilarious. I don't know why, but I just find myself smiling whenever people scream and she doesn't like it. I'm weird like that, what can I say?

Wren gets assigned to train Callum (who is only a Twenty-Two), he's weak, he's slow and he's too human. But Callum makes Wren feel things she shouldn't feel and it scares the shit out of her (please mind my foul-mouth). I have to say, I enjoy the way Amy described Callum. She describe him as weak and slow. Most authors these days tend to go with 'hot' and 'attractive' boys with muscles and six-packs and all that, but Amy created Callum to be weak and not strong, thin and along the lines of not specifically 'hot'. And I like the change.

The way Amy created the dystopian world surprised me, I love how at first, it started with a War (when the HARC were killing off the Reboots), and then it ended with the HARC needing the Reboots to control the humans. I love the set-up of the dystopian world.

Other than the fantastic fights and epic snapping-necks that Wren always do, this story also humour. And I don't know why, but I find myself laughing out loud so many times at what the characters says.

""A version of the truth. Tell them Milo started ranting about the Reboot reservation and people escaping. Tell them he said One-Fifty-Seven escaped. And that he wanted to help you. Then tell them that you think he's crazy. That even if he isn't, you wouldn't go. Do that thing where you look blank, like you have no feelings at all."

"I think that's just my face.""

That part was HILARIOUS! Some people might not think it's funny, but it was so funny I laughed for so long that my tummy hurts. It was just epic!! From Amy's words, I can picture all of the fights, see what was happening in my mind. It was just....so awesome! I love reading Reboot, it was full of action (which I love). a bad-ass main character, some hilarious parts, and an amazing plot!

I CANNOT WAIT FOR BOOK 2!!!!!
